The Human Right to a Clean, Healthy, and Sustainable Environment: Exploring the nexus of environment and global health law
On July 28, 2022, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) overwhelmingly adopted a resolution which recognized “the human right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment.” But what does a healthy environment look like, and what does a right to it entail?

Please join the O’Neill Institute and Georgetown Law’s Environmental Law & Policy Program for a virtual event that addresses the intersection of global health law and environmental law in the context of the right to a healthy environment.

Date: Wednesday, March 29, 2023
Time: 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM EST

The speakers will analyze the consequences of climate change and similar crises on human well-being, as well as explore the growing “One Health” approach. In discussing the origins of the UNGA resolution, the panel will also identify how the right to a healthy environment can influence the environmental, global health, and human rights legal regimes.
