Switching from Natural Gas to electric in multi-family buildings is going to be a big task, especially for older buildings. How can we get started?
Lindsey Falasca, Building Innovation Hub

Good question! As a high level starting point, we have this resource on electrification in DC: https://buildinginnovationhub.org/resource/get-started/building-electrification-in-dc/

@Brad Dockser Thank you for describing the market value of efficiency. Please review again - what are the main four levers to get to net zero, and how are investors and funders currently prioritizing them?

Brad: Good talking points, and it sounds like many of your comments were aimed at the larger buildings/institutional market. Any thoughts on how to scale solutions for small-and-medium sized buildings (e.g., <50k SF)?

Scott, many of the same thoughts with obsolescence being a bigger risk but same idea....follow the money and commodity consumption to see where usage is and then use best practices, and technology to improve assets

Brad and Regal (and Lindsay)l - DC is requiring all new construction to be net zero starting in 2025, and we only have one such building of any scale in DC so far...do you think this will improve the value proposition for retrofitting existing buildings? Do you think there's any chance we can get to all new construction ZNE starting in 2025?
Doug Siglin
38:13
Do we in DC have any financial incentives for transformation?
Suzanne Morrell, PCA Environment Committee, Chair
38:14
Incentives will help to retrofit buildings. So many upgrades need to be made—from electric panels, to retrofitting old steam radiators to electric…etc…

What is the one notable building?

On the net zero question - I hear Kate Johnson at DOEE has a pot of money to pay for design assessments to get started with a ZNE building...(maybe just a rumor)

How do buildings get around some of the hindrances with PEPCO and the utility in terms of solar and meting the NZE?
